OPEN CALL : TACKLING INTOLERANCE AND DISCRIMINATION A TOOL BOX #TIDTB 02-12-2016, 09-12-2016 ITALY

Training Course is planned to be hosted in Giovinazzo , metropolitan area of Bari,Region Puglia The training course “Tackling Intolerance and Discrimination- A Tool Box”  aims to provide youth leaders and educators with new ideas for workshops and training sessions in their work with marginalized young people facing discrimination in their community.

Nowadays discrimination takes many forms in modern Europe. People are discriminated for origin, their religion, sexual orientation, their skin colour, their gender, and even the school they visited and the district they live in. Discrimination often translates into fewer chances for personal development, weakened self-confidence and as a consequence into limited opportunities for employment. For these reasons many civil society organizations work in the field of antidiscrimination by fostering tolerance and aiming to empower young people to overcome the societal stereotypes that hamper the personal freedom and right for self-development.

Along this line, the training course intends to share methods of anti-discrimination work with its participants in order to strengthen their daily work with young people. Workshops, simulation exercises, role plays and debates will be exercised with the participants to give them a learning experience and to explain them their strength and weaknesses. The participants will receive time to design own exercises based on the made experiences can be applied within their programme activities on local level or in international encounters. SOF Spirit of Freedom Italy cooperates in the frame of this project with partners from France, Denmark, The Netherlands, Sweden, Spain, Malta and Croatia.

OPEN CALL : YOUTH EXCHANGE 2 STAGES ''Do something good for yourself and society'' Stage #1 15-23 September 2016, Ada Serbia Stage #2 12-20 November 2016 ,Hajdúböszörmény Hungary

Unemployment is a big challenge for Europe and neighbouring countries. The unprecedented technological development and increased inter-dependence that the world is experiencing have not provided a solution to ones who are left outside the system, especially the young people who find it more and more difficult to meet the ever-changing labour market demands.
The problem is even more acute among youth with fewer opportunities in rural and urban areas where opportunity is a scarce resource and access to education is limited. The frustration and disempowerment of the disadvantaged youth continually breeds low self-esteem, low motivation and cynicism.
This issue is targeted mostly from macro level through the notion of wise policy and effective management of the economy. We believe this is not enough. We are convinced that a true and sustainable solution can only come inside-out; when a shift in thinking and change in perceptions takes place in the minds of young people who come to understand that they have more control over their lives than they think and they are empowered to be proactive and strategic, to seize opportunities, to see the potential and take risks. We believe in the potential of small synergistic actions in local interdependent realities and the need to promote entrepreneurial spirit among young people.
We also believe that this empowerment and inspiration are best brought about to youth by young people themselves. Success story of one young entrepreneur can motivate thousands and the skills learned by a one youth worker can impact many in the local community in a ripple effect.
Objectives of the 1st exchange in Serbia (15-23 of September 2016 ):
- To build up a strong team spirit which can subsist during the whole process
- To discover the reasons of the youth Unemployment in the participating countries
- To learn and shear knowledge and ideas about the opportunities of youth people in Europe.
- To understand the concept of Social Entrepreneurship
- To meet perfect examples of Social Entrepreneurship.
- To gain skills and competences in the field of project management
- To plane together the future path.
Youth Exchange activities will use non formal education methodologies and will be centered on participants’ input and experience as the main source of mutual learning.

The participants from the 1st Exchange MUST participate in the following 2nd Youth Exchange which will be implemented in Hajdúböszörmény, Hungary in 12-20 of November.

Europe Languages 04.08.2016 11.08.2016 Zakopane Mountain, POLAND

The project “Europe Languages” tries to answer the question to what extent the national languages of the participating countries are similar, what they have in common their countries and what divides us.
Countries participating in the project are the countries, which might seem to have a lot in common, but if you look more closely at their history, in thinking about each other, there are still many stereotypes - often unfair and prejudiced. Analysis of national languages and their evolution through the ages in the context of the historical background aims to show young people that represent the culture of each country. Youth first draws knowledge about the history of the school but also the environment in which grows from family, peers and neighbors. Prejudices against other groups very easily take root in the minds of young people, and fight with them is prohibitively difficult. Therefore, the project will not only provide an opportunity for shared learning different languages and learn about history, but most of all to deal with the widely prevailing opinions made by countries that have a lot in common and which are within close proximity. Participants will face their own perceptions, stereotypes, during classes held outside formal methods.

FAITHS OF THE WORLD: INTERFAITH DIALOGUE IN YOUTH WORK’ 19.04.2016 - 27.04.2016 ASHA FOUNDATION - UNITED KINGDOM

This course aims to help participants explore the value and nature of interfaith dialogue as a key aspect of peace education.
It follows many previous courses at the ASHA Centre that have been either about Interfaith Dialogue generally or interfaith dialogue in relationship to particular religions such as Islam and Hinduism.
Interfaith activity has always been a key 'pillar' of the ASHA Centre's philosophy and work; ASHA is a place where people of different religions live and work side by side and where, through its educational courses, appreciation of different cultures and religions is fostered. It is hoped that
such work contributes to a more peaceful world as well as personal inspiration for individuals too.
The course will use non-formal educational methods to address essential aspects of different world religions and the relationship between different faith traditions, and will also look at principles of and tools for good interfaith work.
Methods used will include presentations, group work, sharings and games.
As an example of interfaith activity, the course will also include a day visit, to the Sri Venketeswara Hindu Temple in Birmingham. This temple has areas in its grounds dedicated to other religions, a shrine to a saint of Muslim origin and is engaged in interfaith work in the Birmingham area.

Training Course "Promotion of Labour Mobility in Europe" - Ad aprile in Puglia

Youth Exchange in Lithuania - “Turn Around”

‘Faiths of the world: youth work and inter-religious dialogue’ 24.11 – 02.12.2015 Asha Centre - Galles UK

Come?

What?

The aim of the course is to provide an introduction to Hinduism, its beliefs, practices and significance for young European people today. It follows many previous courses at the ASHA Centre that have been either about Interfaith Dialogue in general or Islam in particular.

Why?

Interfaith dialogue in Europe is often focused on the so-called ‘Abrahamic’ faiths of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. This approach to religions is often to the detriment of religions originating in other parts of the world, which, in terms of population, antiquity, historical influence and cultural richness are just as important;

Hinduism is the third largest religion in the world and of these large religions, the very oldest one. This course seeks to do justice to that fact in the context of interfaith dialogue.

How?

The course will use non-formal educational methods, including presentations, group work, sharing and games. Specific sessions will look at practices like yoga and meditation, include a visit to a beautiful Hindu Temple, question and answer sessions with Hindus about their religion, an Indian story telling session, and an exploration of Indian history and philosophy.

· Setting the ground for the topic of the project and introducing the importance
of waste management and presenting the opportunities for self-employment
· Introducing the participants to the local city and promoting our activities

· Sharing the outcomes and promoting the project and the Erasmus+  opportunities to the youngsters and the local community
· Promote active participation, volunteering and raising awareness of  opportunities for youth

SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT
Summary of the project:
Zero waste is not a dream.  The nature by itself doesn't create waste. Why should we? Why we
are going the opposite way of that the nature has intended  us. We do not support
inefficient  system that creates waste so let’s think of changing the waste into a resource.
On every project  we are trying to reuse the materials so why not to make a
project where we  can improve all of it on a project so our next projects will be
more waste efficient and we can  have more products from each project, beside
the main idea. Let’s change all of that  with  the  project  ,,Upcycle  4  better  Life  cycle",  in  Bitola
and  with  our  creativity give the society an example how far can we go if we reuse what we call waste. With  forces joined from 8 countries, 40 participants for recycling and non - recycling societies  we will  share the experience of reusing the waste, but not only in the form of raw materials, but also in  a  form of  ready material  in  its given  shape  and  state  and  present  to  the  City  the  tall  standing sculpture  of  how  reusing  can  be  useful.
Using  non - form al  methods  combined with  informal  sharing  of  the  culture  for  kick -
starting  the  creativity  process  that  is  wall  impregnated  in  our  conciseness. The arts and crafts section will bring it closer to the society the upcycling methods  through  the  presentation  in the primary  schools  and  the  high  schools  and  motivate  the youngsters from early age to think of the waste in a different way. Also let’s make some jewelery so it will remind us of the process of upcyclig as a motivation of self - employment and create a  database (blog) for draining the experience shared and share the new gained one. All in all we want to share this idea not only between the  participants but in their wider surrounding and the environment and the business sector whenever the influence can reach through the participants influential social life network. Let’s create a self - sustaining system leading on for zero waste or  at least give the system a little push on this direction. Lets change the way we see the waste and  start looking at it as a free resource. Lets be the change. Let’s Upcycle for a better life cycle.

The main theme that leaded the project was the high youth unemployment rate in southern Europe , lack of work forces in northern part , the misuse of workers, inequality of domestic and foreign workers, lack of information about rights and possibilities .
This is just the top of the iceberg of issues that European Labour Market faces today. European youth labour mobility offers many possibilities to unemployed young people from Bulgaria to Ireland, from Portugal to Estonia. This Training Course just  offered to the  youth workers and young leaders from 9 EU countries possibility to learn how to promote labour mobility, how to help young people to find information and use tools provided by European Commission such as EURES platform , Erasmus + , guaranteed rights and limitations, what support young people working in other member state can get, etc.
Participants gained leadership skills and developed local, regional, national and international projects regarding youth labour mobility.
We increased as well the  role of the EU in our everyday life.
Is needed also point out that the programme of the EYLMW was  adapted to the needs of participants and contains various forms of non-formal learning methods such as simulations, brainstorming, work in the groups, debates, presentations and team and trust bulding activities. To develop this project was possibile thanks to the  representatives of youth realities  and organisations involved .

The hosting ngo TDM 200 POLSKA provided a lot of information regarding the topic in a general level and later on getting closer to the polish reality. We realized and understood what kind of initiatives the  government provide to tackle the youth unemployment in Poland and what kind of  support .
As outcomes of this  EYLMW soon will be published a tool box .
The main purpose of this ToolBox is to provide a concrete tool to the organizatons , youth workers and yourn leaders in order to spread as much information as possible regarding EU employment opportunities . Everything towards non formal methods and activities.

Project Description

EUROSUD in Malta : '' Log In '' Training Course 10-18th October, 2013

Aims and Objectives:

This training course emerged from the needs identified in various studies which took place in recent years, namely the publication 'R u online?' a research study conducted in the Maltese Islands which explored the relationship of online and offline environments and the relationship which youth workers have with online tools. The findings of the thesis were also confirmed by the 'E-participation of the Youth Policy Framework' which was published by the European Commission to highlight the need for an increase in the awareness and of online activity and how can these activities be more linked with the life of young people within the EU and the civic society as a whole. In addition, there is a decline in physical participation (offline) of young people in institutions and organisations, therefore the need to explore the online as platform to get in touch with young people in a meaningful relationship is of vital importance today.

This training course will focus on:

• Understanding better the medium of the internet

• The effect of the internet of young people's life style

• Explorations of topics like: E-participation, copyright, Online identities, Social networks, cyber bullying,

EUROSUD in Moldova , Training Course : “ Train your Leader!”July 3rd to 9th, 2013

From July 3rd to 9th, 2013, Vadul lui Voda hosted a group of international and local volunteers, who met in order to exchange experiences, promote the European values and also to improve their leadership skills.

All these activities took place in the frame of the Training Course: "FWD: Train your leader!".

This project was implemented thanks to the support of the European Commission and the active involvement of the 8 partners, mostly members of SCI (Service Civil International). The program of the training was mainly based on the principle of message forwarding (best practices and knowledge) from volunteers who already have experience in organizing and proceeding international volunteering projects (workcamps and youth exchanges) to volunteers who are beginners.

Many factors contributed to the success of this training, including good understanding that persisted throughout the volunteers’ stay at a guesthouse in Vadul lui Voda. Although the group of volunteers was culturally diverse and had different experiences, the participants became friends since the very first day with some help from the trainers and the members of the staff. This friendship facilitated the process in which the volunteers got acquainted with each other, but also it relaxed the atmosphere by playing a lot of energy games (energizers) selected from the box that the volunteers filled with the games they knew. The volunteers tested their leadership skills starting with the first session of the training, when a TV show was improvised and they had to share some information about the organization they represented, in front of all the people. After that they used the map of best practices in order to reveal their volunteering experience and marked all the countries and projects they had been involved in till that moment.
The intercultural communication was even more consolidated due to the intercultural evening, when each participant had the opportunity to present some general things, customs, specific dishes of the country they were coming from, and, at the same time, they enjoyed the food that was beautifully arranged under the flag and the pictures that showed the scenic places of that particular country of their roommates/ neighbors.

During the training, the volunteers discussed over a cup of coffee about pleasant or less pleasant experiences that they had while they were organizing a work camp or a youth exchange project, within the "World Cafe" session. Meanwhile, the team was divided in two groups that discussed about work camps and volunteer exchange and then they prepared an entire program for each kind of project.

Moreover, they learned to negotiate while they were building a bridge, without allowing the teams to see each other.
It’s important to know that all materials elaborated during the training session will be published on the website of the page IamaCampleader, a wiki started in 2012 by the IAL and SVIT organizations in order to provide support to future leaders.

In addition, the experience that AVI team has gained will be used for the projects that will run this year, including the one that’s going to be in August – a camp for young people: "Bring your English to Moldovan Youth", but also international volunteers will share the experience in their local groups in order to use it in projects which are going to implemented by partner organizations in the next future.

EUROSUD in Turkey Act ! Don’t React! Çanakkale, 21-26 June 2013

Action 3.1.2 Cooperation with the Neighbouring Countries of the European Union

This project took  place in Çanakkale/ Turkey between 21-26 June 2013, organized within the framework of the European Program “Youth in Action” supported by the European Commission. Participants from Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Georgia, Armenia, Greece, Malta, Lithuania, Slovakia and of course, Turkey will meet in this wonderful project.

Summary of the project:
Action 3.1.2 Training and Networking project with Neighbouring Partner Countries
Date: 21 – 26 June 2013
Location: Çanakkale, Turkey
Number of participants: 20
Age group: No age limits
This training aims to identify and reduce problems which prevent young Europeans from finding a job.

In this field basic education does not provide information that is needed, so we decided to offer young people the chance to share their experiences in terms of employment and gain more knowledge about this topic. Together we will create an environment to develop skills which will help in finding work or creating an own business. Inspired by the idea that “Inside of every problem lies an opportunity”, we believe that especially now, considering the fact that unemployment is becoming a big problem, we need to develop our skills as much as possible.

Cultivating creative thinking will help us solve our problems, because “When times are bad is when the real entrepreneurs emerge.”

Using non-formal education through team-building, facilitation, communication, intercultural competence and creative thinking skills we will increase youngsters’ spirit of initiative, make them take attitude and act corresponding to their problems.

Several methods will be combined to explore the topics: intercultural learning exercises, simulation exercises, discussions, creative thinking techniques, self-assessment inventories, reflection groups and presentations.

This will lead to a more vibrant democratic life in Europe at all levels.
Objectives

The international seminar “Democratic European Citizenship: Turning the Concept into Reality” to be held in Sofia from 7 to 14 May, 2013 will meet the need to inform the young people how the EU works and the rights and obligations the EU citizenship brings in order to provide young people with knowledge and skills for active participation in the democratic life of the union. The political, social, economic and cultural aspects that the seminar addresses will contribute to shape a vision how to strengthen European democracy and reaffirm the concept of active European citizenship.

The hosting organization will take care about all these practicalities and also about the finding of an appropriate place to hold the course, offering an adequate living standard, proportional with the grant received, and proper working spaces.

“Minority Rights Education for Children” is a  training course set to empower the work of organizations both working with children on education for Minority Rights, and promoting the specific rights of children with a minority background.

The main aim is to be able to give to the participants useful tools to go towards the involvement of minorities, and the mutual dialogue between them and the hosting societies, starting from children, the active citizens of tomorrow. In the 6 days of the course, staying together in Mostar, Bosnia Herzegovina, the 30 participants, half from EU and half from South Eastern Europe, will have the opportunity to share not only experiences and best practices but also to discuss about obstacles and ideas on how to improve the social inclusion of children coming from different minorities, and how to educate them on how to foster it.

During the course, we will cover topics such as the concept of minority itself, what institutions are dealing with them, and what is the role of NGOs in this field, especially understanding different tools for minority rights education for children.

The main issue will be for sure to provide to the participants such tools that can be useful in making children aware of the importance of the involvement of people from such different social backgrounds, make them major agents of change in this process, and improve so the mutual dialogue between majorities and minorities.

The main methodology used in the training will be non formal education, completed by some theoretical inputs on certain parts. The methods will include group discussions, round tables, roleplays, simulations, and different dynamic activities stimulating creativity and active participation.

The project took place at Student Hotel which was opened 6 months ago. It is located next to the bus and train station in Mostar.

Training Course ''E Quality project management'' Malta , La Valletta 17 - 24 March 2013

Many youth work projects are not up to standard because of the lack of one or more elements that contribute to the overall running of the project. Within our work on an international level we have realised that our partners are in the dire need of some direction on how projects should be run, how to make a proper needs analysis, what objectives to aim for, how to evaluate the progress of the project and how to report accordingly.

PRISMS believe that with our programme we have not only improved the stages of a project, but also that by contributing the efforts of persons coming from totally different backgrounds, lifestyles and; (in our case) continents we have contributed towards the overall improvement of our activities. In one week, the participants were introduced to the basic notions of project management. “We learnt how projects should be run, how to make a proper needs analysis, what objectives to aim for, how to evaluate the progress of the project and how to report accordingly”, says Kűbra.

The participants were able to participate to a variety of workshops on the importance of youth participation, inclusion, cultural diversity, risk assessment, crisis management. There was also space for partnership building, where it was possible to come together, brainstorm for ideas and begin working on future projects.

“It was a great occasion to reevaluate our past experiences, meet the general and some specific problematic cases of other international project”, adds Kűbra one the participant. While Sibel points out that “the host organization was very friendly and cared about our needs. And the trainers were very knowledgeable about the topic of the course.”

The setting for these great training was the beautiful island of Malta. For Kűbra and Sibel it was the first time in a country where they drove on the left side of the road, so it took a few days adjusting and enjoy the fresh air and beautiful seaside.
